I am the 6th owner of my 1981 Trans Am. My car is a bit of a whore. It has been registered with each owner so it has (probably) been on the road in some fashion with each of them. It had at least 141,000 miles on it when I got it (odometer stopped working on the 41,000 mark but It was registered once at 98,000mi). I think it is safe to say I have one of the highest mileage examples of my car that still exists.

Oh god I think I'm the 4th owner of my car, and I only got it with 58k miles on it. Must have been leased or something.

I was told that I am the second owner of my XC from the shady dealer man I bought it from. He may have been lying but it's in great shape regardless.

I'm 2nd for my '99 Saab 9-3 5-speed. Word on the street is the previous owner spent 10 years paying off her loan and as soon as she did, she sold it. Scooped it up in '09 with 177k miles on it and DDing it ever since.

The great thing about driving her car is it was never hooned, so it's in better than average shape for it's age.

I'm the third owner of my DD, a 2002 Impala LS. The first owner had it for 9 years, maintained it well, and liked it so much, he bought a new Impala to replace it (he probably regrets that decision). The 2nd owner kept it for about six months, then it sat on a dealer's lot for another six, until I came along.

I'm the seventh owner. Got it at only 63k miles, too.

I think I'm fourth of the Benz (technicality, within-family thing so more like third), third or fourth on the Rover (don't know past three owners), and probably third on the Ranchero. I was at least third on my VW - probably more like fifth.

At least 3. But it came from Quebec originally, so there's no way to know.

Second, I think, it was owned by some lady driver who put 9600 miles on it in 4 years and then dumped it when the next generation model came along.

For my DD I'm the second. For my Camaro I'm at least the fourth, and the first to actually fix things correctly.

At least the seventh, of a 97 Cherokee with 237k miles. Carfax says I'm the sixth, but the people I bought it from hadn't titled it. First owner had it for 14 years, and then the past few must've been a wild ride.

I can tell you I am not the first owner of any of my cars. My wife has a new car but its not mine technically, its a diesel Beetle with a Turbo tail I got and installed because she likes the look... I don't think my father was the first owner of most of them either. Buying a new car is throwing some money away mostly. Unless its a new and unique car you must have, generally if you happen to like newer cars, I don't, its best to get a previously leased car that was maintained well by the dealer.

4th. It was owned by an old lady, then a friend of my dads, then my dad, and now I have it.

2nd owner of my Miata, 4th (yikes!) of the Mercedes. Both of them originally California cars, both of them bought by me after their previous owners moved to Arizona.

I have service records on the Miata back to the day it was bought new (Veteran's Day: November 11th, 1990), including every gas fill-up for over 23 years. I highly recommend buying cars from OCD engineers.

My first car was a 1995 Miata, of which I was the second owner. The original owner babied the car.

My second car was a 2001 BMW 330xi, of which I was the 5th owner. That car was an unreliable piece of shit, so it's no wonder it has been sold so many times.

My current car is a 2007 Audi A4 2.0T Quattro, of which I'm the third owner. Like my Miata, the previous owners treated the car very well, servicing them exclusively at their local Audi dealers and making sure to be extremely proactive about maintenance.

2nd owner of my 2006 Crossfire. The first was a shadowy scientific organization with a long term lease. I got it with 40,000 miles on it. Now it has like 68,000.
